How HAPIview Works

  • icon Step 1: Position the patient
The caregiver performs the clinically appropriate turn.
  • icon Step 2: Capture one anterior image
The image is obtained through the HAPIview application.
  • icon Step 3: Review geometric measurements
HAPIview assesses lateral tilt and lower-extremity positioning using adjustable anatomical reference points.
  • icon Step 4: Correct and document
The caregiver receives immediate guidance and confirms the final position

What HAPIview Evaluates

  • icon Lateral tilt: 28-40°
Guidance: Turn patient more or turn patient less.
  • icon Hip-to-knee angle: 10-20°
Guidance: Bend knees more or bend knees less.
  • icon Knee-to-ankle angle: 5-10°
Guidance: Raise the lower legs or lower
    the legs.
  • icon Anatomical offloading
    Visual assessment of relevant anatomical
    areas.

The Clinical Problem

Repositioning is an important component of pressure-injury prevention, yet hospitals often rely on subjective visual assessment and manual documentation. A turn may be documented without an objective way to confirm the patient's actual position.

Key points:

  • Patient positioning can vary significantly between caregivers.
  • Documentation records that care occurred but may not verify positioning quality.
  • Wearable technologies can add cost, workflow complexity, and skin-contact concerns.
  • Caregivers may not receive immediate feedback when positioning should be corrected.

Why VeriCapture

Key differentiators:

  • No wearable sensor
  • No adhesive applied to the patient
  • Immediate corrective feedback
  • Objective geometric measurements
  • Adjustable anatomical reference points
  • Configurable clinical parameters
  • Potential integration with clinical workflows and electronic documentation
  • Privacy-conscious image processing and retention design
Any feature that has not been completed should be described as planned or under development. We should not claim that HAPIview is HIPAA compliant, integrated with an EHR, or automatically deletes images until those functions have been built and validated.

Clinical Pilot Program

VeriCapture Health is seeking clinical partners to evaluate HAPIview in real-world care environments. A proposed pilot would assess usability, workflow time, measurement consistency, staff adoption, and positioning compliance.

Potential pilot measurements include:

  • Time required to complete each positioning assessment
  • Percentage of patients initially positioned within the selected target ranges
  • Number and type of corrective prompts
  • Caregiver usability and satisfaction
  • Agreement between HAPIview and trained clinical reviewers
  • Documentation completeness
  • Pressure-injury outcomes when the pilot is appropriately designed and powered
Pilot participation may include staff education covering pressure-injury risk, repositioning principles, institutional standards, and hands-on HAPIview training. Continuing-education credit may be pursued where appropriate.
